CiTR Radio 101.9FM and Discorder Magazine present:
Artistic Cultural Appropriation w/ Salia Joseph
Wednesday, January 17, 6-8pm, AMS Nest Room 2508
Want to learn more about cultural appropriation? Lets stop that bad ol’ seed from growing within the artistic world and ensure that it’s got no home at CiTR and Discorder. Join Salia Joseph as she explores the roots of cultural appropriation from a First Nations lens and explore how to identify it, how it effects people and most importantly brainstorm ways to prevent and stop it.
Salia Joseph is from the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh nation and lives in east Vancouver. In 2016 she graduated from the First Nations and Indigenous studies from UBC. Salia did her practicum at CiTR and created a research podcast series titled Mingling with Matriarchs. She was also hired as the first Indigenous Collective Coordinator at CiTR and helped create the show Unceded Airwaves. Currently Salia is studying her language, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Sníchim, full time at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver BC.
Workshops are free and open to the public, but space is limited! Email volunteer [@] citr.ca to reserve a spot.
